CURES is the framework ProcessMind uses to score the health of your processes. It stands for five dimensions (Conformance, Uniformity, Rework, Efficiency, and Smoothness) that together describe how well a process is actually performing.

The CURES score is the basis of Process Health. Instead of comparing many separate metrics, you get one repeatable score per process, and you can always drill into a dimension to see what is driving it.

The Five Dimensions

Conformance

Conformance measures how closely cases follow the intended process model.

  • High conformance means cases largely stick to the designed flow.
  • Low conformance reveals shortcuts, skipped steps, or workarounds.

Use conformance checking to see exactly where cases deviate from the model.

Uniformity

Uniformity measures how consistent and similar process executions are.

  • High uniformity means most cases take similar paths and take similar amounts of time.
  • Low uniformity points to high variation: many variants doing the same work differently.

Rework

Rework measures how much work is repeated or redone before a case completes.

  • High rework shows up as loops, returns, and corrections.
  • It is often a sign of unclear requirements, missing information, or quality issues earlier in the process.

Efficiency

Efficiency measures how quickly work flows through the process.

  • High efficiency means cases complete with little idle or waiting time.
  • Low efficiency is usually driven by bottlenecks and handoffs.

Use process animation and simulation to see where time is lost.

Smoothness

Smoothness measures how smoothly cases move through the process without delays or interruptions.

  • High smoothness means steady flow with few long waits.
  • Low smoothness shows up as queues, delays, and uneven workloads between resources.

How the Dimensions Combine

The dimensions carry different weights in the overall score. Together they paint a balanced picture: a process can be fast but non-conforming, or smooth but inefficient. A single high-scoring dimension does not make a process healthy; the overall score reflects all five.

Improving a Dimension

  • Start with the weakest dimension: a low score is a clear priority.
  • Connect the score to causes: use process variants and conformance checking to find out why a dimension is underperforming.
  • Test improvements with simulation before changing the live process.
  • Re-measure after changes to confirm the score actually improved.
