Type Conversion Functions

Functions for converting between data types and checking value types.

Data Types in ProcessMind

ProcessMind expressions work with the following data types:

  • number: Numeric values:

    42
3.14
-100

  • string: Text values:

    "Hello"
"Active"

  • boolean: True/false values:

    true
false

  • null: Missing value:

    null

Common Patterns

  • Parse Numbers from Text:

    toNumber("42")        // 42
toNumber("3.14")      // 3.14
toNumber("abc")       // null (conversion failed)

  • Convert for Concatenation:

    "Order #" + toString(OrderId)

  • Parse Yes/No Fields:

    toBoolean("yes")      // true
toBoolean("no")       // false
toBoolean("1")        // true
toBoolean("0")        // false

  • Type-Safe Calculations:

    if(isNumber(Value), Value * 2, 0)

toNumber

(value)

Converts a value to a number. Returns null if conversion fails.

Parameters
value any Value to convert
Returns number | null
Examples
toNumber("42") → 42
toNumber("abc") → null
toNumber(true) → 1

toString

(value)

Converts a value to a string.

Parameters
value any Value to convert
Returns string
Examples
toString(42) → "42"
toString(true) → "true"

toBoolean

(value)

Converts a value to a boolean. Strings such as 'true', 'yes', and '1' become true.

Parameters
value any Value to convert
Returns boolean | null
Examples
toBoolean("yes") → true
toBoolean(0) → false
toBoolean("maybe") → false

Checks whether a value is a number.
