AI-Assisted Simulation

Setting up a simulation requires realistic parameters: arrival rates, processing times, and resource capacities. AI-assisted simulation removes the guesswork by generating these parameters for you, either from your process model or from your actual process data.

What Is AI-Assisted Simulation?

When you configure a simulation, the Auto Configure feature can populate your simulation parameters in two ways:

  • AI-Suggested: generates realistic parameters based on the structure of your BPMN model
  • Observed from Data: derives parameters from your actual process data (available when data is mapped to the model)

Both approaches save time and produce simulations grounded in realistic assumptions.

Generating Parameters with AI

To have AI suggest parameters from your model:

  1. Open a process with a BPMN model
  2. Go to the Simulation page for your process
  3. Click Auto Configure
  4. Select AI-Suggested
  5. Review the generated parameters in the simulation panel
  6. Adjust any values you want to change, then run the simulation

AI-Suggested is ideal when you have a model but no historical data, or when you want a quick starting point.

Deriving Parameters from Data

To base your simulation on real behavior:

  1. Open a process with a BPMN model that has data mapped to it
  2. Open the Simulation page and click Auto Configure
  3. Select Observed from Data
  4. ProcessMind analyzes the mapped dataset and fills in arrival rates, processing times, and other parameters from observed values
  5. Run the simulation

Observed from Data produces the most realistic results because the parameters reflect how the process actually performs. See What-If Analysis with Simulation for how to compare simulated results against real data.

Choosing the Right Mode

  • Use AI-Suggested when you are modeling a new or redesigned process without data
  • Use Observed from Data when you have a mapped dataset and want predictions grounded in reality
  • Combine both: start with AI-Suggested, refine with observed values, and compare scenarios

AI Credits and Usage

AI-assisted configuration uses a few AI credits per action. Your organization’s balance and monthly allowance are shown on the Usage and Credits screen.
