Navigating Dashboards

Efficient navigation helps you focus on analysis rather than searching for features. This guide covers all the ways to move around and manage your views in ProcessMind.

Process List

The Process List is your starting point for accessing dashboards.

Accessing the Process List

Click the Process List icon in the left sidebar to see all processes you have access to.

Process List Features

  • Search: Type in the search box to filter processes by name
  • Sort: Click column headers to sort by name, date, or other attributes
  • Favorites: Star processes you access frequently for quick access
  • Folders: Processes may be organized into folders by your administrator

Opening a Process

Click on any process name to open its dashboard. The process diagram and charts will load in the main canvas.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks save your current view including filters, chart settings, and zoom level. They’re essential for returning to specific analyses.

Accessing Bookmarks

Click the Bookmark icon in the left sidebar to see saved bookmarks.

Using Bookmarks

View Controls

View controls help you see exactly what you need on the canvas.

Zoom

Zoom in to see details of specific parts of your process:

  • Mouse scroll: Scroll up to zoom in, down to zoom out
  • Zoom buttons: Click + or - in the top right
  • Keyboard: Press + or - keys

Zoom to selection: Select an element and zoom controls will center on it.

Pan

  • Click and drag: Hold left mouse button and drag on empty canvas space
  • Middle mouse button: Hold and drag anywhere
  • Arrow keys: Use arrow keys to nudge the view

Fit to View

Click Fit to automatically adjust zoom and position so the entire process fits in your screen. This is useful when you’ve zoomed in and want to see the big picture again.

Keyboard shortcut: Press 0 (zero) to fit to view.

Fullscreen

Click Fullscreen to expand ProcessMind to fill your entire screen. This hides browser controls and gives you maximum canvas space.

Keyboard shortcut: Press F to toggle fullscreen.

Press Esc or click the fullscreen button again to exit.

Minimap

The minimap provides an overview of your entire process, showing where you’re currently viewing.

  • Alt text: “ProcessMind minimap showing current viewport position”

Toggling the Minimap

Click the Minimap button in the view controls to show or hide the minimap.

Using the Minimap

  • Blue rectangle: Shows your current viewport (what you’re seeing)
  • Click anywhere: Jump directly to that part of the process
  • Drag the rectangle: Pan your view by dragging the viewport rectangle

The minimap is especially helpful for large processes where you need to navigate between distant parts quickly.

Detail Slider

The detail slider controls how much of your process is visible in the diagram. Complex processes with many activities and paths can be overwhelming. The detail slider lets you simplify the view.

How It Works

The detail slider filters the process diagram based on frequency:

  • More detail (right): Shows all activities and connections, including rare paths
  • Less detail (left): Shows only the most common activities and paths

As you move the slider left, less frequent elements fade out, leaving you with a cleaner view of the main process flow.

When to Use It

SituationSlider Position
Getting an overviewLess detail (left)
Understanding the main flowLess detail (left)
Investigating edge casesMore detail (right)
Finding all variationsMore detail (right)
Presenting to stakeholdersLess detail (left)

Detail Slider vs. Filters

The detail slider is different from filters:

  • Detail slider: Hides low-frequency elements from the view but doesn’t change metrics
  • Filters: Actually exclude cases from the analysis, changing all metrics

Use the detail slider for visual clarity; use filters when you want to analyze a specific subset.

Pro Tip

Start with the slider at minimum detail to understand the happy path, then gradually increase detail to see where cases deviate.

  2. Learn the keyboard shortcuts for faster navigation
  3. Use the minimap for large processes
  4. Fit to view when you get lost
  5. Star favorite processes for quick access from the process list

View State

Your current view (zoom, pan position) is temporary unless you save it as a bookmark. Refreshing the page will reset to the default view.
