Free AI BPMN generator

Describe your process. Get a BPMN 2.0 diagram.

Type how a process works in plain language and ProcessMind's AI turns it into a BPMN model with tasks, gateways, events and flows, ready to edit, auto-layout, simulate and share.

  • AI-generated BPMN 2.0 Tasks, gateways, events and flows
  • Export as .bpmn BPMN 2.0 XML, open in any BPMN tool

Generate your BPMN model

Describe the process the way you would explain it to a colleague: the steps, the decisions and who does what.

How the BPMN generator works

1

Describe the process

Write the steps, the decisions and the exceptions in everyday language. You do not need to know BPMN notation.

2

The AI builds the model

The generator maps your description to BPMN 2.0 elements: activities, gateways, events, lanes and sequence flows, then lays them out.

3

Refine and use it

Rename activities, connect what the draft missed, switch the layout, run a what-if simulation and export the BPMN file.

Two settings decide how the first draft reads.

Generation options

Horizontal or vertical layout

Horizontal reads left to right, like most process diagrams. Vertical is easier to print in portrait and to scan on a phone. You can switch later with auto-layout.

How auto-layout works →

Compact, normal or large

Compact aims for about ten activities. Normal balances steps and decisions. Large spells out roughly twenty activities, including the exception paths.

Activities and tasks

User, service and manual tasks, plus sub-processes for detail that belongs on a lower level.

Every step of the work, at the level of detail the model needs.

Events

Start, intermediate and end events, including message, timer, signal and error definitions.

Waiting, messages and exceptions stay visible in the flow.

Gateways

Exclusive decisions, parallel splits and joins, inclusive gateways and event-based routing.

Every decision and split is explicit, not hidden in a task name.

Pools and lanes

Swimlanes for hand-offs between departments, teams or systems.

Hand-offs between teams and systems stay readable.

Connections

Sequence flows inside a process and message flows between participants.

The order of the work and the messages between participants are wired up.

Data and artifacts

Data objects, text annotations and groups that carry context without changing the flow.

Context that makes a model readable without changing it.

ProcessMind exports standard BPMN 2.0 XML, so a generated model opens in other BPMN tools as well.

The draft is the part that takes time. Editing is the part you should spend it on.

What an AI BPMN generator does

An AI BPMN generator turns a written process description into a BPMN 2.0 model. Instead of dragging tasks, gateways and events onto a canvas, you describe what happens and the generator picks the elements, connects them and lays them out. The result is a normal BPMN file, not a picture: you can edit it, validate it, export it and import it elsewhere.

This page is the generator itself. Type a process, choose how detailed the first draft should be, and ProcessMind builds the model in your workspace.

Text to BPMN, without a modeling course

BPMN 2.0 has a precise vocabulary: which gateway splits, which event catches, when a lane changes the meaning of a hand-off. The generator handles that mapping, so the first version of a process model comes from the knowledge you already have, not from notation training.

You still decide. The AI proposes a structure; you rename activities to your own terms, remove steps that do not belong and add the exceptions the description left out.

Where AI-generated BPMN fits

Use it when a process exists in someone's head, in a workshop transcript or in a procedure document and you need a model to react to. It is also the fastest way to compare two variants of a process before committing to a redesign.

For processes where the data already exists, process mining discovers the model from an event log instead. Both routes end on the same canvas, so you can start with a description and later compare it with what your systems actually do.

What to review in a generated model

Check the decisions first: every gateway should ask a question the process really asks, and every outgoing path should be possible. Then check the participants: lanes should match who actually performs each task, not who owns the process.

Finally, check the edges. A missing sequence flow or an end event in the middle of a path is easier to see once the model is laid out; auto-layout re-arranges the diagram after every change without touching the logic.

Frequently asked questions

You can try it with a free ProcessMind account. No credit card is required, and the trial includes AI credits for generating and refining a model.

Yes. The generator runs inside ProcessMind, so you create a free account first. Your description is kept, submitted automatically after sign-up, and the generated model opens in the editor.

Your description is stored in your new workspace and the model is generated automatically. It opens on the canvas ready to edit, so you do not have to type the description again.

Yes. Models export as BPMN 2.0 XML, which opens in other BPMN tools. You can also share the model or present it directly from ProcessMind.

Name the steps in order, the decisions with their conditions, and who performs each step. A short paragraph is enough for a first draft; add the exception paths when they matter.

Yes. Use the auto-layout engine to switch between a horizontal and a vertical layout at any time. The layout changes how the model reads, not what it contains.

Treat it as a first draft. The AI maps your words to BPMN elements, but names, gateway conditions and flows should be reviewed before the model is shared or used for sign-off.

Write in the language you think in. The generated labels follow the language you work in inside ProcessMind, and you can rename any element afterwards.

It is used to generate your model and stored in your workspace so you can iterate on it. The privacy policy describes storage and retention.
